Damian Wilmot – Brule River Guide

Damian has spent nearly 4 decades guiding anglers on Wisconsin’s storied Bois Brule River, a waterway steeped in presidential history and fly-fishing tradition. Known for his deep knowledge of the river’s ecology and heritage, he blends technical fly-fishing expertise with storytelling that honors both legendary and lesser-known guides who came before him. Beyond the riverbank, Damian has restored historic Joe Lucius canoes, bringing Brule history full circle by guiding from vessels that once carried anglers in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. His work reflects a commitment to authenticity, inclusivity, and preservation—ensuring that the Brule’s traditions remain alive for future generations.
